BETBOOM became the final team to make the Thunderpick World Championship top four with a resilient 2-1 victory over Legacy (Nuke 16-13, Dust2 11-13, Mirage 13-11).
The Russian squad will now face Falcons in Saturday’s semi-final, a team they beat at the IEM Cologne Major.
The win is also crucial for BETBOOM’s Major prospects, as the victory over Legacy secured them 62 VRS points and clinched Major qualification as per HLTV’s invite simulator.
The match began on Nuke, where Bruno “latto” Rebelatto and Santino “try” Rigal combined for 28 kills to help Legacy secure an 8-4 CT half. They extended that lead with a second-half pistol, but BETBOOM completed a comeback from 4-10 down to win the map in overtime.
Dust2 followed a similar storyline, with Legacy once again squandering four map points before closing out the map in the final round of regulation.
That meant a decider on Mirage, where Kirill “Magnojez” Rodnov took matters into his own hands. A stylish AWP 4k on the B hold helped BETBOOM stay in control early before a crucial 1v1 clutch secured double digits for the team, with the Russian rifler finishing the map on 25 kills, 104.5 ADR and a 1.58 rating.
