Serena Williams has shocked the tennis world by confirming her comeback to professional tennis.
Williams has received a wildcard to play at Queen’s later this month, having last played at the US Open in 2022.
The 44-year-old, who boasts 23 Grand Slam singles titles from her stunning career, is set to play doubles with WTA rising star Victoria Mboko.
Williams spent over 300 weeks at the top of the world rankings, and has claimed 73 WTA singles titles throughout her career.
She now has the possibility to add to that success with her return at Queen’s, which former Wimbledon finalist Eugenie Bouchard has shared her reaction to.

Eugenie Bouchard reacts to ‘crazy’ Serena Williams comeback
Bouchard said live on TNT Sports: “I think it’s crazy if she comes back.
“I think good for her for putting in the work.
“It’s so hard to be a professional tennis player, you have to dedicate and sacrifice so much.
“It’s part of the reason I retired, you have to be 100% all in or else you don’t even have a chance.
“For her to still want to do that at her age, with her two beautiful kids, I’m like, go and enjoy your retirement girl.
“Go on vacation, enjoy life.
“But I can understand, we have such love for the game, wanting to come back.”

Will Serena Williams play at Wimbledon?
It is a truly extraordinary situation with Williams, who clearly thinks she has what it takes to still perform at the highest level.
Queen’s is a WTA 500 tournament, with the grass-court event taking place in London just three weeks before Wimbledon.
Williams clinched seven singles titles at the Grand Slam, along with six doubles titles with her sister Venus Williams and one mixed doubles title with Max Mirnyi.
She clearly knows what it takes to succeed on grass, but the WTA veteran would need a wildcard to be able to play at Wimbledon, where she would more than likely aim to play singles.
It is then anyone’s guess how she would perform against the current superstars if a wildcard did indeed go her way.
