Ninjas in Pyjamas then defeated HEROIC in the highlight match of the opening round, with Martin “stavn” Lund continuing his hot start to life as an AWPer with 106.8 ADR, +9.22% round swing, and a 1.85 rating across the series.
The final match of the day was the South American derby between 9z and Sharks, which went the way of the latter after a close three-map affair that ended with a 13-11 win on Nuke.
The day-one results mean that magic is set to face off against FaZe in the upper bracket, with Ninjas in Pyjamas vs. Sharks played as the second winner’s clash.
Meanwhile, 3DMAX will attempt to stay alive in Barcelona against Alliance before 9z do the same against HEROIC.
