Claims were made over the weekend that the PS5 version of GTA 6 was outselling the Xbox version at a rate of roughly eight-to-one. Despite Xbox trying to rubbish those claims, the best-sellers chart on Amazon backs them up.
The PS5 version of GTA 6 is currently the 13th best-selling item in the site’s video games department. It was fourth just yesterday, and has been in the top 20 ever since pre-orders went live. Impressive since it has been a week since that happened, and you have to imagine that most people eager to secure their physical copy of the game did so within minutes of pre-orders going live.

Compare that to the Xbox version, which is nowhere to be found among Amazon’s best-sellers. To be clear, the list represents video game-related items only, not everything sold on the site. That includes games, consoles, accessories, even gift cards. That’s why, on any given day, that $10 Roblox gift card is going to be either number one or damn close to it.
Video Game Store Refuses To Stock GTA 6’s Physical Version Over Missing Disc
North American video game retailer VGP is refusing to stock copies of GTA 6’s code in a box due to company policy.
You can check out the 100 best-selling video game items through this chart, and it’s updated every day. It’s to be expected that the Xbox version of GTA 6 would be charting lower than its PS5 counterpart, maybe even significantly lower, but for there to be no sign of it anywhere among the top 100 is not only concerning, but adds credence to the claims that there is a big gulf between GTA 6 sales on PS5 and Xbox.
Other Stuff That’s Currently Selling Better Than The Xbox Version Of GTA 6
To give you an example of just how worrying it is that the Xbox version isn’t among Amazon’s 100 best sellers in the video game department, here are some of the games and items currently outselling it. Kirby Air Riders, a standard DualSense, Just Dance 2026, Lost Soul Aside, and the 12-month Play Pass for the Nex Playground.
Xbox repeatedly shooting itself in the foot aside, it’s hardly surprising that GTA 6 is selling far better on PS5 than on Series X. PlayStation has been boasting that the next GTA “plays best on PS5”, a slogan you can now find on the GTA 6 website. If this is a game you’ve been waiting years for, and a lot of people have, everything is telling you, even Rockstar’s marketing department, that you should play it on PS5 if you can.
