Gunther may have once been the World Heavyweight Champion and dominated proceedings in WWE, but now things have changed quite severely. The star who has retired Goldberg, John Cena, and AJ Styles is now on Main Event.

Gunther is not happy, and he has no reason to be. Recently, he was scheduled to face Danhausen and attacked him before it even began. He appeared on tonight’s debut episode of Main Event on Rumble, where he cut a scathing promo. He said he came to WWE to wear championships around his waist, but admitted he had been distracted recently by Danhausen and Finn Balor.
“My trajectory in this company has been clear from the beginning. I came here to compete at the top, to wear championships around my waist. But I have distracted myself. I have been distracted by a goofball like Danhausen walking around here pretending to belong to this business that I respect and love. I grinded way too hard and grinded way too long for someone disgracing this great sport. The same goes for Finn Balor.”
He went on to say that Balor had been great at one time, but it was past time for him to hang it up and retire. He mentioned that he had destroyed them both on RAW, and now he was going to focus on what’s next.
“Finn, I told you directly to your face. You’re one of the greatest of your time but your time has passed. You should have the dignity and respect for yourself. Hang it up. So I had to beat it into both of you. Two in one night, what a success. The next success is about to follow. Because I am going to go and take what’s rightfully mine, the WWE Championship.”
It remains to be seen if Gunther continues to appear in this new format of Main Event.
