The Mistlands has many lovely qualities, like terrifying monsters and approximately one million rocks standing directly between you and wherever you actually want to go. Thankfully, Valheim 1.0 has finally given us a tool for dealing with at least one of those problems: the Grappling Hook. This handy little gadget lets you zip around the environment and reach places that would otherwise require a much more exhausting hike.
Of course, getting your hands on one requires venturing into the Mistlands and doing some very specific Viking errands first. If you are ready to embrace your inner climbing girlie, here is everything you need to know about getting and using the Grappling Hook.
How To Get And Use A Grappling Hook
The Grappling Hook lets you pull yourself toward surfaces, cross gaps, and climb vertically, which makes some of the game’s most frustrating terrain much easier to navigate.
What Are The Grappling Hook Materials
You can craft the Grappling Hook at a Workbench once you have the required materials.

How To Get The Hook
The Hook is the only part of the recipe that cannot be crafted. You will need to explore Infested Mines, also known as Seeker dungeons, in the Mistlands.
Look for the large black marble structures covered in yellow growths. Once inside, search for hidden rooms marked by small sigils on stones. Chests found in these rooms have a chance of containing a Hook.
If you are playing in multiplayer, keep in mind that finding one Hook only gives you enough for one Grappling Hook. Each player will need their own Hook, so you may have to explore several Infested Mines.
How To Use The Grappling Hook
Equip the Grappling Hook and aim at a surface within range. If it can latch onto the surface, it will pull you toward the point you hooked. You can use it vertically or horizontally, which makes it particularly useful for climbing steep terrain and crossing gaps.
Using the Grappling Hook consumes stamina, so keep an eye on your stamina bar. While hanging from the hook, you will slowly descend if you do nothing. Pressing the jump button pulls you toward the hook point.
