Influencer EdenTheDoll has responded after drawing some backlash for getting onstage after a Broadway showing of Wicked and posing for selfies.
On November 1, YouTuber Victoria Calamito – better known as The Oz Vlog – shared a story on her Instagram about a recent showing of Wicked on Broadway.
As per Calamito’s video, she’d been told by another fan that, during an October 30 production of Wicked: The Musical, they’d seen people getting onstage for a photoshoot. They were eventually approached by the stage manager, who told them to move on and stop taking photos.
The woman in the centre of the photos was identified as EdenTheDoll, an Instagram model who close to 600,000 followers. “There’s absolutely no circumstance under which this is acceptable behavior,” Calamito said, noting that climbing onto the stage “poses several safety concerns” for everyone involved. “It is so grotesquely tacky and entitled behavior.”
EdenTheDoll responds to Broadway phoot controversy
After coming under fire for it, EdenTheDoll responded in a series of Instagram story posts, taking aim at The Oz Vlog too.
“Calling someone disgusting and grotesque over a selfie acting like I’m at church disrespecting God is insane,” she said. “I paid for front row tickets and waited until it was over! I saw the opportunity and I took it.
“Clearly, I am not Abbey Lee Miller and had no idea I was disrespecting God himself.” The Instagram model also shared photos of her performing a handstand on the stage, and told people to “stop watching us” and “watch the show.”
Some commenters said they were “enraged” by the behavior, while others defended Eden as well.
“The gasp that left my mouth when I saw her using the stage as her photo op,” one said.”I think what they did was wrong but calling it grotesque and disgusting is a little much ….,” another added.
“For what it’s worth, they do great, positive content. But yeah, this is a big swing and miss by them!” another commented.
Elsewhere, a TikToker has gone viral after claiming that an influencer – who she refuses to name – asked for payment if she wanted to post a selfie they’d taken together.
