Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic will be extremely motivated to get their seasons back on track after the French Open.

Both superstars suffered disappointment in Paris, where their ATP rival Alexander Zverev lifted the prestigious trophy.

Sinner was beaten by Juan Manuel Cerundolo in just the second round of the Grand Slam, where Djokovic lost to Joao Fonseca in round three.

The French Open brought an end to the clay-court swing, with the grass-court swing now underway, culminating in Wimbledon later this summer.

Several ATP tournaments are in the schedule between now and then, with Sinner and Djokovic making the same smart move before the Grand Slam arrives.

Which player disappointed you the most at the French Open?

Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic make smart move before Wimbledon

While there are plenty of opportunities for the Italian and the Serbian to fine-tune their games for Wimbledon, both have opted against playing any warm-up events.

It’s certainly a risky strategy from the pair, who could find it tricky to make the transition from clay to grass from one tournament to the next.

But they will have ample opportunity to practise on the surface in training, which is set to be beneficial for different reasons.

Sinner really struggled with the heat at the French Open, and will likely be able to look further into that problem behind the scenes with his team as opposed to in a match.

Meanwhile, Djokovic turned 39 last month, and is making the right decision to continue picking and choosing the events he wants to play in order to remain fully fit.

Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic already given huge Wimbledon boost

Of course, both Djokovic and Sinner can rely on their history on grass courts for confidence heading into Wimbledon.

The former has claimed the title a stunning seven times, while he lost the 2023 and 2024 finals to Carlos Alcaraz.

And the latter clinched his maiden success in 2025, defeating two-time defending champion Alcaraz in the final.

They are clearly well-versed on the surface, while Alcaraz’s Wimbledon absence simply boosts their chances of success this year.

His lack of appearance at the Grand Slam simply blows the draw wide open, but it undoubtedly works very much in favor of Sinner and Djokovic.
