Coming off the heels of its previous season in June, Rainbow Six Siege is gearing up for the third season of Year 11 with Operation Split Fire, introducing several major gameplay changes, cosmetics, map updates, and a new operator to boot. Being the first new operator since the release of Solid Snake, players will be getting their hands on a unique new defender this time around that has just been unveiled with a few exciting trailers.

Although the operator has been leaked and officially teased for a while now, Ubisoft finally dropped a cinematic and gameplay overview trailer telling us everything we needed to know about the new operator, alongside some of the biggest changes coming to the game with the new season.

A New Defender Is Coming To Siege Next Month

With the name of Noor, the new Egyptian defender arriving with the new season on September 1st comes equipped with a ranged Horus Lance Launcher that launches flame-spewing devices through breakable walls, onto solid ones, and even into shield operators, which you can get a glimpse of in the official reveal trailer posted to the Rainbow 6 YouTube channel.

Being a two-speed, two-health defender operator, Noor comes equipped with either a Comando-9 assault rifle or an Alda 5.56 LMG for longer engagements, alongside a fast-firing Tacops 1911 pistol or wall-destroying Baliff 410 revolver. In terms of gadgets, you’ll also be able to bring either a Deployable Shield of Barbed Wire that pairs excellently with the Horus Lance.

Once launched onto a soft or reinforced surface, the Horus Launcher will burrow inside and launch a stream of flames on either side, destroying any gadgets placed on the other side and damaging any operators that get near while it’s active.

Dual Front Is The New, Best Way To Get In To Rainbow Six Siege

Rainbow Six Siege’s new mode kickstarts an exciting new era for the game.

Aside from being great for holding angles and preventing attackers from breaching a site, the Horus Launcher is also a hard counter for shield operators, as once shot with the gadget, they will have 1 second to pull out the projectile and leave themselves defenseless before the flames start rapidly draining their health.

Operation Split Fire Has Plenty In Store For R6 Fans

While a new operator is also an exciting addition to Rainbow Six Siege, it’s far from the only thing arriving in the newest season either, with Lion, Dokkebi, Echo, Kapkan, and Kali all getting some slight ability or loadout changes, alongside a few weapon tweaks that can be found on Ubisoft’s official patch notes page.

Several fan-favorite R6 maps are also getting some major reworks, with Villa being the latest one on the refreshed list, completely redesigning the basement and garage area, which will become a new bombsite replacing the Living Rom/Library one.

Lastly, Operation Split Fire is bringing two modes in the form of the permanent Legend Division solo queue that allows players to compete on a visible leaderboard for in-game rewards and bragging rights, alongside a temporary mini-game. Running between September 23 and October 13, players will be able to compete in the arcade-style Wasteland Circuit Drone Race event, offering a bit of a refresher in between matches.

All these changes are only a glimpse at what Rainbow Six Siege has in store for players in the latest update, which you’ll be able to hop in and experience for yourself in just a few weeks on September 1st.
