Roger Federer will be making an appearance during the opening week of the 2026 US Open.
For one night only, Federer will take to Arthur Ashe Stadium on August 25th to play in an exhibition event alongside Andy Roddick, John McEnroe and Andre Agassi.
The Swiss holds the joint-record for the most US Open men’s singles titles won in the Open Era with five, tied with Pete Sampras and Jimmy Connors.
What would the score be if Carlos Alcaraz faced prime Roger Federer?
Who is winning and in how many sets?
Federer last competed at the US Open back in 2019, when he was beaten in the quarterfinals by Grigor Dimitrov.
Ahead of his return to New York, Federer sent a message to fans on social media.

Roger Federer ‘looking forward’ to US Open exhibition event
In a post on Instagram, Federer said: “Looking forward to being back in New York and adding new memories to so many special ones over the years.
“See you soon NYC.”
Federer made history when he won the US Open for the very first time back in 2004.
After defeating Lleyton Hewitt in straight sets, Federer became the first man since Connors in 1974 to win the Australian Open, Wimbledon and the US Open in the same season.
He then went on to win the US Open title four more times consecutively, beating Andy Murray in the 2008 final to move up to second place on the all-time men’s singles major titles list, surpassing Roy Emerson.
How many Grand Slams would ‘prime’ Andy Murray win in 2026?
Where would he be ranked?
Federer became the outright leader in men’s Grand Slam singles titles after winning his 15th at Wimbledon in 2009, breaking Sampras’ record.

Roger Federer’s 2008 triumph remains the last title defence
On the men’s side, the US Open title has been an incredibly difficult one to defend over the past two decades.
Indeed, the last successful title defence in men’s singles at Flushing Meadows belongs to Federer.
Since Federer won a fifth straight crown at the US Open in 2008, no man has been able to go back-to-back there.
The reigning champion at the US Open is Carlos Alcaraz, who claimed his sixth major title in the Big Apple last year.
But a title defence will be a difficult feat to achieve for Alcaraz, as he is returning from a wrist injury that has kept him out of action since April.
