A group of Twitch streamers fled in a panic after their studio caught fire in the middle of a live broadcast.
Carter Efe is a popular Nigerian influencer, comedian, and streamer who currently boasts over 679,000 followers on Twitch.
Like many other popular IRL broadcasters, Efe often streams himself in large groups having fun with his friends… But one of these streams ended in disaster after a magician’s trick backfired.
On May 28, Efe and his friends invited a magician onto their broadcast to perform a few tricks for them.
During his performance, the magician pulled out a lighter and lit a small prop on fire — but the object was seemingly more flammable than he expected, causing him to drop it onto the ground in a panic.
The group fled the small studio as the flames spread. The heat from the blaze was so intense that the video capture paused, with the fire quickly consuming nearby objects on the ground.
Luckily, the crew was able to eventually extinguish the blaze, though it’s unclear how that occurred, given that much of the incident was only available via audio.
Video capture resumed a few moments later, showing the smoky aftermath of the blaze as the streamers attempted to clean up the room. No injuries were reported due to the fire, and Efe and his squad eventually left the house to mingle at a separate location away from the lingering smoke.
The ordeal ended up going viral on social media after popular Apex Legends streamer ‘Mister Arther’ came across the broadcast at the exact moment of the blaze while casually browsing through the ‘Just Chatting’ category on Twitch.
“Is this happening right now?” a shocked Arther asked his chat. “What is that timing? What the f**k? Are you kidding me?”
Oddly enough, this isn’t the first time a blaze has broken out on one of Efe’s streams; in August 2025, another ‘magician’ performed a fire-related trick that saw flames explode across the room, landing on Efe’s lap and catching his clothes on fire.
He isn’t the only streamer to set off a fire during a broadcast, by far; we’re reminded of the time IShowSpeed famously set off a Pikachu-shaped firework in his bedroom before his rise to global fame in 2022, which prompted a visit from the fire department and a sound scolding from his mother.
