There is a lot to find in Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced. From unique outfits for you and the crew to messages in a bottle to different weapons, you can lose a lot of time hunting down everything. Perhaps the best collectibles in the game are the Ultimate Plans, which serve as the final roadblock to unlocking all the Jackdaw’s last upgrades.
One of these is the Fire Barrel Strength Ultimate Plan, which increases our Fire Barrel damage by an additional 100%. This makes them especially deadly against ships trying to ram us and is a key item for defeating the legendary ship El Impoluto. Here is where to find the Fire Barrel Strength Ultimate Plan and how to implement it.
Fire Barrel Strength Ultimate Plan Location
Similar to some of the other Ultimate Plans, this one can be found by digging up buried treasure. Specifically, we will need the Treasure Map from Santanillas, which can be found in the southwest region of Chinchorro. At coordinates (185,219), you’ll want to be careful, as this area is patrolled by a variety of higher-tier ships. If you’re picking this plan up early, you may struggle to fight them as they can deal a ton of damage and have a decent amount of health.
Once you arrive on Santanillas, go to the beach on the west side and look for a pair of destroyed pillars leaning against some trees. Use these to ascend the large rock so you can reach where the Treasure Map is. Once you’re on top of the massive boulder, follow the path until you find a skeleton lying on a stone table to your right. Interact with the skeleton to obtain the treasure map.
Now head to the cave of San Juan at coordinates (454,462) in the southern region of Cruz. Upon arrival, dive into the water where all the debris is and look for a group of jellyfish. Swim towards them to discover an underwater cave opening you can follow, which will eventually spit you out inside an area where you can climb out of the water.
Kill the lone guard hanging around and then look for a pile of sand next to some shovels. This will be right before you climb up the cart to reach the area above you. You’ll find a spot where you can dig up the Treasure Chest with the Fire Barrel Strength Ultimate Plan at coordinates (455,462).
How To Unlock The Fire Barrel Strength Ultimate Plan
With the Fire Barrel Strength Ultimate Plan in hand, make your way back to the Great Inagua and head to the Harbourmaster. In order to use Ultimate Plan upgrades, you’ll need to first ensure that the vendor itself is fully upgraded. To do this, speak to the man outside the Harbourmaster and spend the few thousand Reales it takes to fully improve this vendor.
After the vendor is fully upgraded, speak to any Harbourmaster in the game and select the “Upgrade Ship” option. Now select the Barrel Launch in the top row. Thankfully, this upgrade is on the cheaper side, making it easier to purchase early in the game. To buy this upgrade, you will need:
- 8,000 Reales
- Fire Barrel Strength Ultimate Plan
Despite what the description says, the damage increase from the Fire Barrel is a little different than your cannons or mortar. Instead of a straight stat boost, you will actually drop four fire barrels behind the Jackdaw instead of two. This gives you a bigger area of effect, making it quite deadly against bigger boats or ones that are clumped up.
This allows you to do quite a lot of damage, and you’ll definitely want this upgrade if you plan on facing the El Impoluto since it’s a great counter to this legendary ship’s mobility. Once you have the upgrade, you will no longer be able to improve the Barrel Launcher.
