MOUZ are through to the grand final of BLAST Open Porto, cementing their status as one of the world’s elite teams by taking down the likes of Falcons and Vitality on their way to Championship Sunday.

MOUZ surge past Vitality to make Porto finals

One of the driving forces behind MOUZ’s run has been Adrian “xelex” Vincze, who has stepped up in an explosive way to help guide his team throughout their campaign, posting a 1.38 rating to sit second in the tournament behind only Danil “donk” Kryshkovets.

“I have been working a lot on my mental side,” xelex said of his excellent showing in BLAST Open Porto. “I think now the one thing that clicked for me is just really focusing on my own game and trying to bring my focus back to the game, even if sometimes it flips away because of something that happened.”

With only Spirit left standing between MOUZ and the trophy, xelex is confident his team can take down the current VRS No. 1. “I’m feeling very excited, this will be my second big final so I’m just super excited. We beat Spirit once, so why couldn’t we do it twice? That’s what I will say to that. We will work tomorrow, do our prep and just play some good Counter-Strike.”

You can listen to the interview here.

Talk me through that series through your eyes.

I mean I will say that it’s a great relief to be honest, it’s my second time playing them but it’s nice that we could beat them this time. I would say that I knew it a bit, that we would beat them, I was confident because I think we play great CS now. There are still some rounds that could be better, but we are still learning and just getting together in a way. I’m just super happy, to be honest.

You personally are having an amazing performance at this tournament. What do you put that down to? Because it’s been a crazy uptick, especially in terms of consistency from map to map.

I have been working a lot on my mental side, like I said in many interviews. I think now the one thing that clicked for me is just really focusing on my own game and just trying to bring my focus back to the game, even if sometimes it flips away because of something that happened. I just don’t want to let the outside noise in. I’m focusing on this a lot and I think that’s the biggest thing that is helping me now, that I can bring my focus back to the game and don’t let it go to any negative thinking.

I just don’t want to let the outside noise in

Not only are you a young player, you are a young player that represented MOUZ’s academy and have been with the organization for a long time. How does it feel to have this level of success early?

It’s great I think, that’s the only good answer here. I feel super happy about it because nobody would expect us to play this good with the new roster at the start of the season. The only thing that I can say is that we will try to keep up this consistency and do this every event, as much as we can. At the end of the day we just have to play some good MOUZ Counter-Strike, and we will always get what we deserve at the end.

Like you say, I think a lot of people from the outside doubted this MOUZ roster at the start of the season. Does that give you a little extra fire to prove people wrong?

It feels great of course after you win, but to be honest I was not really focusing on it. Sometimes I see the comments where people say… you know. There are some nice comments on HLTV. It’s like yeah, okay, the only thing you can do about it is prove them wrong, that’s what I can say. I wasn’t really thinking about it, it’s about us just playing the game. When we are winning against these big teams, well we are a big team too, but when we are winning against them, it speaks for itself.

We beat Spirit once, so why couldn’t we do it twice?

Grand final tomorrow, how are you feeling about that game and your opponents?

I’m feeling very excited, this will be my second big final so I’m just super excited. We beat Spirit once, so why couldn’t we do it twice? That’s what I will say to that. We will work tomorrow, do our prep and just play some good Counter-Strike again, and see what we get.

I think MOUZ are quite used to being the villains when they walk out onto the stage, but it felt like you got a lot of support from that crowd today. How did that feel?

It felt great, I think it’s nice of course when people support you, but I think it’s the same for me there that… of course it’s nice when they support you, but even if they boo us, I am not really focusing on that. I mean bro, it doesn’t matter for me, I am just focusing on the game. When you win, they can boo. I don’t really think about it.
