Aiemann Zahabi Explains Why He Believes Sean O’Malley Lied To N3on

Aiemann Zahabi, during a recent candid chat with N3on, claimed that Sean O’Malley had lied to the American streamer about not training in wrestling.

For context, N3on, after noticing that “Suga” doesn’t have cauliflower ears, questioned why O’Malley has normal ears, to which the former UFC bantamweight champion responded that he doesn’t wrestle and therefore has not developed wrestler’s ear. He said:

“Do I look like I know how to wrestle? You get that from wrestling. I don’t wrestle. Not me. Never wrestled a day in my life. I just strike baby. [When I get taken down during fights,] I lay there and get beaten up until the end of the round. I have good ears.”

While Sean O’Malley kept it real with N3on, Aiemann Zahabi still believes “Suga” lied

Sean O’Malley is primarily a striker with devastating knockout power and has always struggled against elite wrestlers and grapplers such as Petr Yan and Merab Dvalishvili.

However, during his 2022 bout against Yan, in the closing moments of the first round, O’Malley timed a perfectly executed level change, secured a takedown, and briefly took Yan’s back.

Considering Dvalishvili struggled to consistently take “No Mercy” down at UFC 323, O’Malley’s success in that one exchange makes it difficult for Zahabi to believe that “Suga” doesn’t train wrestling.

The 38-year-old believes that there’s no way O’Malley could have taken Yan down so effortlessly if what the former champ claims is true. He told N3on:

“There’s no way [O’Malley does not train his wrestling]. He took down Petr Yan… I think he’s joking with you.”

Aiemann Zahabi, who is riding a 7-fight win streak, will take on Sean O’Malley this weekend at UFC Freedom 250, and sources suggest that the winner of this bout could fight the winner of the potential Petr Yan vs. Merab Dvalishvili 3 title rematch that is expected to happen later this year.

During the same interview with N3on, the Canadian fighter added that he’s expecting O’Malley to wrestle on June 14, but personally, he would love the bout to be a pure striking fest.

“I’m getting ready to defend the wrestling that he’s gonna bring… It’s not a card I need to use, and if I don’t have to, I won’t use it. I want to stand with him.”
