Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca is hoping that Erling Haaland hasn’t suffered a serious injury after the striker was seen limping in the 3-2 Premier League home win over Ipswich Town on Saturday (October 17).
Phil Foden’s early opener was cancelled out by Ipswich’s Daizen Maeda within two minutes before Haaland struck either side of the break to put City on the ascendancy. Zian Flemming’s 90th-minute penalty set up a grandstand finale, but Maresca’s side held on for a seventh straight win to retain their lead at the top.
Thanks for the submission!
Victory might have come at a cost for the Cityzens, as Haaland was seen limping off at full time after taking a blow to his foot late on. However, Maresca sounded hopeful that the Norwegian hasn’t sustained a serious injury (as per Tribal Football):
“We will see. I asked him, and he said he was OK, so hopefully it is nothing serious.”
Acknowledging the importance of Haaland, the Italian said:
“It’s fantastic for him. He’s not just scoring goals; he’s one of the leaders, he’s one of the captains. He’s doing very well.”
Apart from Haaland, Maresca seems to have a few more potential injury worries as he added:
“Unfortunately, in 10 minutes we had four of five players, Matheus (Nunes), Kova (Mateo Kovacic), Erling, Antoine (Semenyo) and Nico (O’Reilly) also, but they are inside now, and we will see.”
With the win over Ipswich Town, Maresca became the first manager in Premier League history to win their first seven games, with Haaland playing a key role, scoring eight times.
What’s next for Erling Haaland’s Manchester City?

Manchester City have had a superb start to the season, especially in the league, where they have won all seven games to go six points clear at the top, having played a match more.
Their latest outing was a 3-2 home win over Ipswich Town at the weekend, returning to winning ways following a 4-2 home defeat in midweek to holders Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League.
Erling Haaland and Co. next take on AEK at home in the Champions League on Tuesday (October 20). Four days later, they travel to Aston Villa in the league before hosting Brighton & Hove Albion in the EFL Cup fourth round on October 28.
