Serena Williams has received a wild card to play doubles with Venus Williams at Wimbledon, although it’s unclear whether she will play singles at the All England Club.
The 23-time Grand Slam champion wasn’t among the six players who received their Wimbledon (singles) wild cards on Tuesday.
However, there is one wild card remaining, and most fans and pundits agree that it’s for Williams, if she wants it.
What do you think Serena Williams needs to do to make her comeback successful?
Former world number one Kim Clijsters has now shared whether she believes Williams will play singles at Wimbledon.
Kim Clijsters thinks it may be too early for Serena Williams to play singles at Wimbledon
During the latest episode of ‘Love All‘, Clijsters was asked if she believes Williams will take the last remaining singles wild card.
“No, not yet,” said Clijsters.
“I don’t know, maybe?
“It could be, I didn’t even think about that, to be honest, as a chance yet.
“Just from some of the videos I’ve seen. Singles is still a very different game than what she’s done so far, I think that might still be a little bit early, to start right away at the Grand Slam.
“I think if she decides to play singles, I think she will maybe play a couple of tournaments and a couple of matches before she plays a big tournament.

“But you never know, Serena is Serena, and once you’ve been able to play at such a high level, I’m certain that when she gets back onto court, everything will fall into place.”
Clijsters then shared what she believes Williams would find most difficult in singles.
“The biggest thing that is going to be noticeable is the movement; that’s going to be the hardest thing, what everything will be comparing, from what that was like a few years ago to now,” she said.
“It’s normal that when you haven’t played for four years, you get older; it’s normal that the movement is not going to be the same.
“That’s something, over the last few years, the movement of the players has gotten so important…
“We’ll see. I would love to see it, but I think it might be a little bit too soon to do singles already.”

She did, however, note that Williams’ training included several singles drills.
“It looks like she’s trying some singles, some singles practices out there, or at least trying out the movement more,” said Clijsters.
“It’s great to see, it’s fun, and I’m excited to see how far she can push this second career or third career that she’s having, so very interesting.
“We’ll see if maybe that wild card will go to her or not.”
Williams refused to confirm or deny that she would play singles at Wimbledon during a Berlin Open press conference, but the likelihood is that she will be one of the 128 players competing for the Venus Rosewater Dish later this summer.
And even if she doesn’t, she will have a shot at Wimbledon silverware in doubles…
Kim Clijsters is ‘really excited’ to see Serena Williams and Venus Williams play doubles at Wimbledon
Clijsters was delighted when she heard the news that the Williams sisters will play doubles together at Wimbledon.
“It’s so exciting,” she said.
“It’s exciting to see that all the rumours, the hope that a lot of people had, the whispers that were going round in the tennis world, this is basically what I think she has been trying to come back for.

“Just to see the two of them on a court together, and then to be at Wimbledon, is really exciting, and I can’t wait for them to walk out, hopefully on Centre Court, or Court One.
“Just to see that happen will be a really big moment for tennis and for tennis fans.”
The Williams sisters have already won 14 Grand Slam titles together, and will have a chance to win a 15th major at Wimbledon this year.
