Pizza Hut Japan has launched a new pizza topped with noodles, combining the ingredients of an iconic Chinese soup dish with mozzarella and Gouda cheese.
Following hot on the heels of its unique curry-flavored “drinkable pizza” (yes, it’s a real thing), Pizza Hut Japan has cooked up another wild crossover, this time adding spicy noodles that diners can slurp up.
Pizza Hut Japan has even “paid particular attention to the chewy texture of the Korean glass noodles,” a phrase I thought I’d never find myself mentioning when writing about pizza (you have my condolences once again, Italy).
Pizza Hut puts malatang noodles on a pizza
For those who don’t know, malatang is a Chinese soup dish that combines Sichuan peppercorns, chili, and spices with ingredients such as noodles, vegetables, and meat.
However, Pizza Hut’s version swaps a bowl of delicious spicy broth for a pizza base, pairing its toppings with two types of cheese.
The sauce contains Sichuan peppercorns, Chinese five-spice, two types of Sichuan peppercorn oil, and mala oil. As for the noodles, Pizza Hut Japan opted for Korean glass noodles as they are sturdier than conventional ramen noodles and offer a “distinctive texture” on top of the pizza.
Alongside the original, Pizza Hut is selling a vegetable version that adds toppings including green asparagus and corn. There’s even a seafood option that includes shrimp and squid, alongside pork and wood ear mushrooms, and of course, generous helpings of noodles.
The range is available at participating Pizza Hut stores across Japan through November 4, 2026, and will set you back ¥880 ($5.55) for a small takeout order and rise all the way up to ¥1,380 ($8.70) for a medium.
