Two years after her last screen appearance, Kim Tae-ri is reportedly returning to star in a new series. On Wednesday (July 1), Tae-ri’s agency, Management MMM shared that the actress was offered a role in an upcoming series, saying:

“We are under positive review after being offered a role in ‘I’m the Queen in This Life’.”

For the unversed, I’m the Queen in this Life is going to be a live-action adaptation of a Naver webtoon of the same name. The news of Tae-ri’s return to the screen has given her fans a reason to celebrate on social media. One fan wrote on X:

For the unversed, the last time Kim Tae-ri was seen on-screen was in 2024, when she starred as Yoon Jeong-nyeon in TvN’s Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born. The period K-drama ran for 12 episodes and featured Shin Ye-eun as her rival in the plot.

The plot of Kim Tae-ri’s I’m the Queen in this Life, explored

I’m the Queen in this Life is an ongoing webtoon that started in 2022, and is set in the fictional Etruscan kingdom. The plot opens with a twisted murder committed by the king’s illegitimate son, Cesare. Cesare has dreamed of ruling the kingdom and sees his half-brother, Alfonso, as an obstacle in his way.

Cesare and his fiancée, Ariadne, together plot a scheme to usurp Alfonso, and are successful in getting the former on the throne. After Cesare becomes king, despite Ariadne’s true devotion to him, he eventually cheats on her with her own sister. They plan to murder Ariadne so that her sister could become the new queen.

However, in a twist of fate, Ariadne is reborn as her 17-year-old self, almost as if the clock has turned back. With the memories of her last life intact, the teenage Ariadne must navigate through life with caution so as not to repeat the tragic ending of her life.

While there’s no official confirmation yet, fans speculate that Kim Tae-ri will be portraying Ariadne in the upcoming series. However, the other lead cast members have not yet been revealed.

Which actor will end up playing Cesare alongside Tae-ri remains to be seen.
